The project developed two key components to automate and scale data workflows:
DataToMetabase: A set of R tools designed to automate the (pre-)curation of a Metabase instance by leveraging the Metabase API. The goal was to reduce manual effort in tasks such as creating tables and queries, thereby improving scalability and efficiency in data management.
metabase-to-google: A solution connecting Metabase with Google Spreadsheets, enabling automated (pre-)curation of Google Sheets from Metabase dashboards and saved queries (cards). This component utilized the Metabase API, Google Apps Script, and Google APIs (e.g., Sheets API) to bridge the two platforms.
Though prototypical, the project demonstrated the feasibility of building data pipelines outside traditional technical stacks. This approach empowers less technical users to leverage automation and reproducibility in environments like Google Workspace, expanding accessibility to data-driven workflows.
