Transparency (ITZ self-commitment declaration)

Transparency matters to us. That is why we wish to join the self-commitment declaration of the Initiative for a Transparent Civil Society (Initiative Transparente Zivilgesellschaft, ITZ) and have applied for inclusion in the ITZ list of signatories. We commit to making the following ten pieces of information available to the public and keeping them up to date.

3. Tax-exempt status

For the promotion of public and vocational education, including student assistance, we are exempt from corporation tax under Section 5 (1) no. 9 of the German Corporation Tax Act, by virtue of the exemption notice (Freistellungsbescheid) issued by the Berlin Tax Office for Corporations I (Finanzamt für Körperschaften I Berlin), tax number 27/662/58587, dated 3 February 2025 (for the years 2021 to 2023).

6. Staff structure

CorrelAid e.V. employs 13 people full-time and part-time, including 3 working students, amounting to a total of 9.44 full-time equivalents.

The association’s network consists of around 2,400 data scientists, of whom roughly 100 are actively involved over the course of the year, for example on the board, on the ethics committee, as project volunteers or as tutors in our educational programs.

9. Corporate ties to third parties

CorrelAid e.V. is an independent association and has no corporate ties to third parties.

10. Contributions exceeding 10% of annual income

In 2025, we received contributions from the following legal entities amounting to more than 10% of our total annual income:

• Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ)
• aqtivator gGmbH
• German Foundation for Engagement and Volunteering (DSEE)
• An anonymous grant-making foundation
