DESCRIPTION:Get to know Codeberg – a non-profit\, community-led effort t
 hat provides Git hosting for free\, open-source projects built by human co
 mmunities.\n\nGit ([https://git-scm.com/](https://git-scm.com/)) is a free
  and open source distributed software version control system.  Codeberg ([
 https://codeberg.org/](https://codeberg.org/)) is a non-profit\, community
 -led effort that provides Git hosting for free\, open-source projects buil
 t by human communities.  Codeberg is a non-commercial\, human-centric\, Eu
 ropean alternative to Github.\nThis is a beginner friendly workshop for th
 ose who have no or little prior experience in Git and Codeberg.  It offers
  a hands-on\, action-packed experience to use these tools for real\, with 
 real-time guidance and support.  \n\nThe goals of this workshop are howeve
 r not only technical but also:\n- To raise awareness on viable European so
 lutions such as Codeberg\n- To give choices back to users\, now knowing su
 ch viable alternatives exist\n\nOur rundown:\n- Motivation and goals\n- Ty
 pical software version control processes\n- What is Git\, and how does it 
 support these processes\n- What is Codeberg\, and how does it support thes
 e processes\n- Using Git on your laptop\, hands-on\n- Using Git with Codeb

 is workshop. He is one of CorrelAid's Local Chapter Heads in Cologne\, a s
 oftware engineer and IT manager with over 30 years experience working worl
